Background
Extensive consultation took place in 2019 and 2020, with representatives from organisations within the Eastern Creek Motor Sports Precinct, the Office of Sport and a range of clubs and industry bodies, including Motorsport Australia and Motorcycling NSW.
As a result, the Eastern Creek Motor Sports Precinct Vision and Indicative Masterplan was developed which considers opportunities to enhance the lands within the existing precinct and the potential use of lands adjacent to the precinct that will help accommodate the demand for club level motorsports, karting, motorcycling and other non-motorsports.
Vision for the motor sports precinct
A world class Eastern Creek motor sports hub will bring many benefits to Western Sydney and motorsports communities. These may include:
- more activities for club level motorsports, karting, motorcycling, and non-motorsport users
- co-operation and collaboration between clubs and various motorsport codes
- access to the precinct for the general community across non-motorsport activities
- increased club level participation to allow activation throughout the year
- increased community participation
- the potential to partner with universities and companies to perform research and development
- inter-generation inclusion within the precinct by creating a space where older members can mentor younger juniors
- improved accessibility to motorsports through low participation and entry costs.
Where are we currently?
The Eastern Creek Motor Sports Precinct Vision and Indicative Masterplan provides 3 recommendations. All 3 are progressing.
Recommendation 1 – allocation and activation of land for use as a ‘club zone’.
- We have investigated design options that may include additional lands beyond what was contemplated in the vision and indicative masterplan. The additional lands include former landfill sites, currently being rehabilitated.
- Through our recent works we have identified that additional work is required to assess the most appropriate and safe entry and exit to the site from Ferrers Rd.
- We are currently considering the development pathway and operational governance that will allow the maximum facilitation of the land identified as the club zone and ensure the viable and equitable use of the area for member funded not-for-profit clubs.
- We have identified the need to positively link the club zone to the overall motorsport precinct and the local transport network.
Recommendation 2 – implement a motorsport governance structure for the precinct.
- The Eastern Creek Motorsports Precinct Major Events Coordination Committee was established in October 2024. The committee acts as a forum for communication, coordination, and information exchange between agencies as to the operations and events held at the precinct.
- The diagram below demonstrates the governance framework for the committee.

Recommendation 3 – investigate feasibility of repurposing adjacent lands for motorsport use.
Lands to the west of Ferrers Rd are former landfill sites that are currently being rehabilitated by the Waste Assets Management Corporation (WAMC). The timeframe for rehabilitation of the multiple landfill sites varies from the short term to a period of up to 30 years.
Greater Sydney Parklands (GSP) and the WAMC are working together to ensure that the rehabilitation of the land is for the future benefit of the community for parklands. This includes the efficient transfer of land to GSP when rehabilitation works are completed as approved by the NSW Environment Protection Authority.
