Accessibility
There are accessible parking bays and accessible toilets throughout the picnic areas. Most of the picnic shelters offer easy access.
Lizard Log, The Dairy, Plough and Harrow, and Bungarribee have footpaths suitable for wheelchairs or people with restricted mobility.
Bring your dog!
Dogs are welcome in the parklands if they are on a leash and under the control of their owner. We have 70 kilometres of tracks and trails to explore, as well as 2 fenced off-leash areas where dogs can run free: Shale Hills Dog Park and Warrigal Dog Run at Bungarribee.
Lost animals
We understand that it is distressing when pets run off or get lost in the parklands. As the first step, please contact your local council for help. They will contact us if they need more help from Greater Sydney Parklands.
See below for details on posters and traps in the parklands.
Posters are not allowed
Unfortunately, posters about lost animals are not allowed in the parklands. When left behind, they can become litter or damage surfaces. Our rangers will remove them to protect the environment.
Traps are not allowed
Traps are not allowed in the parklands because they can catch the wrong animals, including native wildlife. For safety and conservation reasons, we will remove any traps we find.
What if I need a trap?
If you truly need a trap, contact your local council. They will work with you and involve parkland staff if necessary.
Aggressive animals
If you come across an aggressive dog or other domestic animal, you can report it to your local council. Report any incidents to your local police.
Be aware of snakes
Please remember that we share Western Sydney Parklands with wildlife, including snakes.
Avoid areas with long grass as you may startle a snake in its habitat.
If you see a snake
If you do spot a snake, stay calm and make no sudden movements. Please do not try to touch or move the snake. Move slowly, keeping your distance.
If you are walking your dog, keep it on a leash.
You can also report snake sightings to the rangers on 0459 883 834.
Emergencies
If it's an emergency, call 000 at once.
In the unlikely event that a snake bites you, stay as still as possible, apply compression to the bite and call 000.
