The Dairy and Rangers cottages
One of Australia’s oldest colonial sites.

The Dairy precinct is one of Australia’s oldest colonial sites and one of the 11 Australian convict sites listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Register.
The precinct features the historic Dairy and Rangers cottages and grounds, which are bound by timber fencing. The Dairy Cottage was built between 1796 and 1805 by former convict George Salter. The adjacent Rangers Cottage was built around 1870.
The Dairy Cottage is one of the oldest intact cottages still standing in Australia. As the Dairy and Rangers buildings are very fragile, visitor numbers are limited.
The Dairy precinct is to the north of Old Government House, overlooking the Parramatta River.
