Getting to the park

Here are ways to get to Parramatta Park.

Getting to the park

Parramatta Park is on the western edge of Parramatta’s central business district. It’s an easy walk from Parramatta and Westmead railway stations or the Rivercat ferry terminal.

If you are on foot, the best entry points are the George Street gate on the east, Queens Road gate or Park Avenue to the west and Great Western Highway to the south.

Public transport

City shuttle

The free Parramatta Shuttle Bus connects tourists, residents and commuters to the commercial, retail and recreational landmarks of the city. It runs every 10 minutes, 7 days a week.

The bus operates on a continuous loop around the city centre, with 3 stops near Parramatta Park:

  • stop 3 (Macquarie Street West near the Jessie Street Centre) is a short walk to the park’s main gate – this stop is ideal for the Rumsey Rose Garden, Gatehouse Tea Rooms and Old Government House.
  • stop 4 (O'Connell Street) is ideal for The Crescent, Old Kings Oval, Government Farm and the northern riverbank.
  • stop 5 (Parramatta Leagues Club on O'Connell Street) allows you to access the park by crossing the Parramatta River using the Buttons Bridge.

Driving and parking options

When driving in the park, only travel in the designated vehicle lane (far right of the roadway). Always be aware of pedestrians and cyclists using the shared internal road and never park or stop temporarily in either the cycle or pedestrian lanes.

For vehicle access The Macquarie Street gate is open 6am–6pm (8pm during daylight saving).

Queens Road gate is open 10am–3pm on weekdays and 6am–6pm on weekends and public holidays (8pm during daylight saving).

Parking

We encourage visitors to catch public transport but recognise that many people drive to Parramatta Park. Because of this, we manage the limited parking within the park to benefit all visitors.

Park only in designated parking areas and marked bays. Be aware of the time limits that apply to each marked parking bay.

Never park or stop temporarily in either the cycle or pedestrian lanes on the shared internal roadway.

Temporary parking changes for events and construction work

Sometimes parking isn’t available in the park because of major events, construction or road work.

Sign up to our notifications to receive alerts about parking changes during major events or check the Notices section of this website before you set out.

Accessible parking

There are accessible parking spots throughout the park for visitors with limited mobility. These spaces are clearly marked.

Long-stay parking

Parramatta Park has 3 long-stay paid car parks. Park only in marked bays and clearly display a valid parking ticket on your car dashboard. Each car park has multiple ticket machines that accept coins or credit cards.
