This year we have continued to build a strong foundation in managing Greater Sydney’s parklands estate. Our role as custodians of Greater Sydney’s iconic urban parks is more important than ever, with the NSW Government focused on creating more homes with access to better public spaces.

Working together with our park communities we have continued to sustainably manage our 5 parks. They are vital green infrastructure for our city and improve the health and wellbeing of millions of visitors each year. We proudly support First Nations people in ‘Caring for Country’, and we work to protect and improve the significant cultural and heritage landscapes and the environment of our public parks.

There have been many achievements this year. Thank you to our valued local, state and federal government partners, tenants, suppliers and community trustee boards for working with us to achieve some of the following highlights:

  • Consulting with women, girls and First Nations people who directly influenced the wayfinding lighting design between Parramatta CBD from George Street Gatehouse to Westmead in Parramatta Park
  • Completing an $8 million transformation of Waterfront Green in Callan Park, which involved removing 2 structurally unsound buildings to open up views to Iron Cove and create more community green space near Sydney’s iconic Bay Run. Improvements included new accessible amenities, pathways, picnic facilities, and native plantings.
  • Supporting the growth of Centennial Parklands as Australia’s largest community sports precinct, with approximately 2.8 million hours of recreational usage across 120 facilities which contributes to the physical, social and mental wellbeing of the community.
  • Opening the new 11 km walking track, Gabrugal Yana, a celebration of local Dharug culture in, Western Sydney Parklands
  • Continuing conservation works and environmental improvement works at Fernhill Estate.
