Greater Sydney Parklands – Consultation and engagement framework

We want to understand and effectively respond to the needs and aspirations of everyone with a passion for Sydney’s open space and parklands. 

Our consultation and engagement framework is designed to: 

  • guide how we will consult and engage with park users, visitors and the community about the parklands estate 
  • outline to the public the ways in which they can find out more about and have a say on parkland matters, including about the operation of community trustee boards 
  • build on engagement initiatives we have undertaken to date and respond to the specific requirements for community consultation set out in the NSW Greater Sydney Parklands Trust Act 2022.

Consultation engagement

How we developed the framework

We invited you to provide feedback on a draft consultation and engagement framework from August to October 2022. We reviewed all submissions and published a 'What we heard' report summarising the key feedback. The report also detailed how we used the feedback to finalise the framework. 

We presented the revised framework to the newly established community trustee boards for feedback. We then submitted the framework to the minister, who approved it on 28 February 2023.
